Frozen moments 2011-12: Ryan Kesler — part 1

Our season is officially over, as the boys clean-out their lockers and address the media one final time.

Believe in Canucks: After the loss in overtime I took a walk to cool down. The day that started off bright was slowly getting dark. I stopped by a house with a “stick in rink” flag fluttering against the evening wind. I saw some guys in blue, green, and white jerseys cross the street to the nearby elementary. Joining their hands was a hockey net. Linking their spirits were the sticks and street hockey balls. Binding their faith and belief was their hockey team, the Vancouver Canucks.
It was a tough series against the Kings. Both teams did well, but perhaps they did a bit better. Or perhaps it was a bit of luck. It doesn’t matter now. Our boys came far this year and I’m proud of them. Half a year of rest and training, let’s prepare for the next season.
Roll up those flags. Wash and tuck away those jerseys. For now. Cause soon you’ll need them again, when we’re cheering for our favourite team next year at the run for the cup.
Suddenly the day looked brighter. The air less dense. And all the faith restored. Go Canucks go!

The Sedins don’t deserve to be hated. I may sound vulnerable right now…
The Sedins don’t deserve to be hated. I may sound vulnerable right now but it hurts a lot to see fans across every city calling them “classless” and “girls”. Henrik Sedin, despite everything, stands in front of media who half of the time asks ridiculous questions every night, showing leadership and countability. Henrik Sedin, despite everything, called Dustin Brown’s hit clean and praised the Kings for playing a clean and fair game. Henrik Sedin, despite everything, gave a little girl his stick tonight. Daniel Sedin? Daniel Sedin: “They [Kings] played clean and honest and the way they played, they deserved to win.”
The twins are two of the classiest, if not, the classiest players in the National Hockey League. Please stop with the disrespect.
